• The primary duty of a Precinct Committeeman is to get out the vote during election season. 

    Meet households in their precincts and deliver campaign literature on candidates along with a sample ballot.

    Other duties include helping candidates appear on the ballot, guiding the policies of the local and state republican organizations, assisting in fundraising activities for the party and candidates.

    They also vote for State Central Committee  (SCC) members every 4 years.  The SCC members elect the IL GOP Director and guide the policies of the IL GOP.

    The Williamson County Republican Central Committee is made up of one Republican per precinct.

  • You circulate a petition and gather signatures from ten other Republicans in your precinct. Then turn in your petition to the Williamson County Clerk.

    Petitions should be filled no more than 113 nor less than 106 days prior to the General Primary. (10 ILCS 5/7-12(5))

  • You run for it! Every two years in the general primary election, the Republicans in Williamson County elect all Central Committee members. The next election is scheduled for March 2026.  The candidates for Central Committee appear as the last names on the Republican ballot. The candidate with the most votes wins the election for that particular precinct.
